TALKING TO MY GENERATION - COMMUNICATING THE VALUE OF ADVICE TO BABY BOOMERS
Sydney: 24 July 2008 - 64 Media today announced that Principal, Julie Bennett, has been selected to present at the Australian Financial Services Educators (AFSE) 7th Annual National Conference in Sydney on 1 August.
Her presentation will focus on how delegates can develop the skills required to effectively communicate the value of what they do via media that appeals to baby boomers.
"The hype suggests that if you are serious about marketing, you must know how to reach Generations X, Y and Z," Bennett said. "The reality is that baby boomers are more likely than any other current generation to be in the market for - and need - services like investment advice right now. Strategies that ignore them do so at their peril."
Baby boomers are also currently the generation with more money to spend, she said. "Given that the youngest baby boomer is still only 44, this is a situation that is likely to continue for the next 20 years or so."
Bennett said that learning to communicate well via the media is arguably the most effective marketing skill of all. "It offers professionals the opportunity to profile their products and services in a way that informs and educates their target markets," she said. "However, many people either feel intimidated talking to the media or simply don't know how to approach them. This presentation is designed to help overcome these problems."
AFSE's 7th Annual National Conference Education across Generations is open to all members of the financial services industry and will be held on Friday 1 August 2008 at the Sebel Pier One Hotel, Hickson Road, Sydney. To register, download the form at http://www.afse
