64 MEDIA LAUNCHES PRESS PASS - FOR FINANCE PROFESSIONALS

Sydney: 1 July 2008 - 64 Media today launched Press Pass - for Finance Professionals, a three stage media training program. Press Pass 1 and Press Pass 2 will roll out on 23 July at the Meriton on Pitt Street in Sydney.

Julie Bennett, 64 Media's Principal and a former senior finance editor, said the course, which will be conducted monthly, is designed to help professionals working in the Australian finance industry deal effectively with the press.

"Learning to communicate well via the media is probably the most effective marketing skill any professional can learn," Bennett said. "It offers industry players the opportunity to profile their products and services in a way that informs and educates their target markets. However, many people either feel intimidated talking to the media or simply don't know how to approach them. Press Pass is designed to help overcome these problems."

Press Pass - for Finance Professionals is made up of three stages:
Press Pass 1 - An introduction to dealing with the media (2 hour seminar)
Press Pass 2 - Media training workshop (half day workshop)
Press Pass 3 - Spokesperson media training (fully-tailored workshops for company spokespersons)

Bennett, who is one of the course facilitators, said Press Pass 2 and Press Pass 3 feature an intensive question and answer "grilling" session designed to simulate a live interview with a journalist.

"We want our participants to know what it feels like to be interviewed by a journalist and how to answer questions intelligently and effectively," Bennett said.

Press Pass 1 and Press Pass 2 are group workshops held monthly. They are open to all professionals working in the finance industry. Press Pass 3 is a private, fully-tailored intensive training workshop designed for company spokespersons. It is usually conducted in the privacy of the company's office or board room.

While Press Pass - for Finance Professionals is designed for people working in a number of capacities across the entire industry, Bennett said it is particularly suited to marketing and communications staff, business development and practice management professionals.

"Each stage of the course can be taken as an independent unit and attendees receive a certificate upon completion of each unit," she said.

Other Press Pass - for Finance Professionals course facilitators include Bruce Gingell, CFP and Aureen Bennett.

"Bruce is a former senior financial adviser with over 20 years experience in the industry, while Aureen is a professional trainer with Masters qualifications in adult learning," Bennett said.
