64 Media has launched Press Pass - for Financial Planners, a new version of its three stage media training program, specifically for financial planners.

Julie Bennett, 64 Media's principal, said that in the current financial environment, it is absolutely critical for financial planners to learn how to work effectively with the media.

"There is a lot of negative sentiment about at the moment and some very prominent people are trying to lay blame for some of the financial ills of the world at the doors of advisers," she said. "It is therefore very important that all planners learn how to properly articulate the value of what they do via the media."

Press Pass 1 for Financial Planners is an introductory seminar on dealing with the media and will be conducted monthly in Sydney. It may also be held in Melbourne, subject to demand. Press Pass 1 has accreditation from the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) for 2 continuing professional development (CPD) points.

"We are also currently in the process of preparing Press Pass 2, an intensive media training workshop designed to help planners to build their media profile, for accreditation," Bennett said.

64 Media currently runs Press Pass - for Finance Professionals, a general media training program for all professionals working in the Australian finance industry. For more information on sessions or to book, visit www.64media.com.au/media-training

Julie Bennett will also be leading a lunch time Build your media profile discussion group for FPA Sydney Chapter members on Thursday 16 October, 2008 at the Wesley Function Centre in Sydney. The session will cover:
